Napa Cabbage Slaw

This slaw is a great, fresh side for any grilling get together.

Seasons:summer

Ingredients

  1. 1 tsp fresh ginger
  2. 1 tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  3. ½ tsp soy sauce
  4. 2 tsp lime juice
  5. 1 tsp sesame oil
  6. 4 ounces Napa cabbage
  7. 1 ea red pepper
  8. ½ ea carrot (whole)
  9. 2 sprigs green onion
  10. 1 bunch cilantro
  11. Salt & pepper to taste

Method

  1. Preheat egg to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for direct heat.
  2. Peel ginger and slice thinly. Combine ginger, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, lime juice, and sesame oil in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.
  3. Cut a carrot in half lengthwise and grill for 4 minutes on each side or until lightly softened. Set aside and allow to cool.
  4. Seed red pepper and grill on each side for about 2 minutes each. Remove from grill and set aside to cool.
  5. Shred cabbage, julienne pepper, cut carrot, chiffonade cilantro, and cut green onion on a bias. Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
  6. Dress slaw with dressing. Toss and season to taste.
