These classic dill pickles are simple to make and can even be cut into relish.
Ingredients
- 1 large Cucumber
- 1 1/2 cups White Vinegar
- 1/2 cup Water
- 1 tbsp. Salt
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 2 sprigs Dill
Method
- Peel and seed cucumber and cut to an appropriate size to fit in a pickling jar.
- Place cucumber, dill, and garlic in a sanitized pickling jar.
- Combine Salt, sugar, vinegar, and water in a medium sauce pan. Simmer until sugar and salt are dissolved.
- While still hot, pour liquid into jar with cucumbers. Place a lid on the jar and let sit overnight.
- The pickles can be eaten as is or chopped into relish the next day. They will hold for up to 3 months under refrigeration.
