These home made waffles are simple to make and can be topped with a number of things.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
- 3 each egg yolks
- 1 1/2 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 ounce oil or melted shortening (2 cups)
- 3 each egg whites
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl. Blend on low speed for 10 seconds, using flat beater.
- Combine egg yolks, milk, vanilla, and melted shortening. Add to dry ingredients. Mix on low speed just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
- Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter.
- Refrigerate batter, removing from refrigerator small amounts as needed. Use No. 10 dipper to place batter on preheated waffle iron.
- Bake about 4 minutes.
