Whole Grain Mustard

Making your own mustard isn't as hard as you think!


  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard seeds
  • 1/2 cup brown mustard seeds
  • 1 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup beer of choice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar


  • 1. Soak seeds in vinegar and beer for a minimum of 8 hours.
  • 2. Pulse soaked seeds with the liquid in food processor until desired consistency.
  • 3. Add sugar, adding more if desired and season to taste with salt.
  • 4. Do not refrigerate for 3-5 days depending on desired heat level. It will continue to lessen in heat the longer you let it sit at room temperature
