Tomato Jam

This recipe is for a savory jam that can be used on toast, breads, as a dipping sauce and so much more!


  • 1 pound ripe tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • salt and pepper, to taste


  • 1. Cut tomatoes in half and grill on a cast iron grate at 400º for about 4 minutes with the cut side down. Gently remove the skin and chop. Heat the oil in a medium saucepan until hot and gently cook the onion and garlic until softened about 5 minutes. Add the tomatoes, vinegar, sugar and salt and pepper. Simmer uncovered over low heat until the liquid has evaporated about 30-40 minutes.
