Sweet Rice

Nutritional Information

This is a sweet treat that is garnished with grilled mango!


  • 1 cups glutinous rice, such as jasmine
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 pinch kosher salt
  • 1 cup coconut cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 whole mangoes, peeled, pitted and grilled slightly
  • sesame seeds, for garnish


  • 1. Cook the rice in a rice cooker according to the manufacturer's instructions. If you do not have a rice cooker, then combine the rice in a saucepan with cold water and bring to a boil over high heat. Cover and cook over moderate heat for 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes longer. Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 15 minutes.
  • 2. In a saucepan over low heat, combine the coconut milk, coconut cream, both sugars, salt and bring to a low simmer, stirring to dissolve sugar.
  • 3. Transfer the rice to a bowl. Divide the rice among ramekins, and pour sauce over the top of each one. Serve with sliced mangoes and sesame seeds.
