Nutritional Information

The star of this burger is the red wine BBQ sauce, which would also be a great accompaniment to chicken or pork!

  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • dizzy pig rub, of choice
  • 2 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 1/4 pounds white cheddar
  • Red Wine BBQ Sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/8 can chipotle chiles canned in adobo
  • 1 tablespoon honey, more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon molasses, more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, more to taste
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 3/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 3/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

  • 1. For the Sauce Bring all of the ingredients to a boil. Once sugar has dissolved, remove from the heat and season to taste.
  • 2. For the Burger Season the meat with salt and pepper. Form in to 3 ounce patties.
  • 3. Preheat the Egg to 325º using indirect heat and smoking wood. Smoke the burgers until an internal temperature reaches 165º F. Remove from the grill, top immediately with the cheese and cover. Let rest for 10 minutes.
  • 4. Convert the Egg to direct heat and raise the temperature to 400º. With a preheated cast iron grate, grill the red onion until softened slightly and char marks form. Remove from the grill. Season with dizzy pig rub and chop if desired.
