Simple San Marzano Pizza Sauce

Nutritional Information

This is a simple marinara sauce using the famous San Marzano tomatoes.

Ingredients

  • 28 oz can San Marzano Tomatoes
  • 1 clove Garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Oregano, dried
  • 1/8 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper

Directions

  • 1. Remove the area where the stem connects to the tomatoes and crush the tomatoes with your hands until completely broken up. Pour tomatoes into a large fine mesh sieve over a large bowl. Allow the tomatoes to drain for an hour in the sieve separating the watery liquid from the pulp. Finely chop garlic clove. Combine tomato pulp, garlic, salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper and oregano. If the sauce is still lumpy continue to mash up until desired consistency. (Avoid using a blender as it breaks the seeds releasing a subtle bitter flavor.) Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes or until desired thickness. Season to taste.
