Rum Flambe Sauce

This is a great sauce to serve with just about any dessert!


  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped macadmia nuts
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • bananas, sliced, if desired


  • 1. Preheat the EGG to 400º using direct heat, a cast iron grate and a preheated cast iron skillet.
  • 2. Add the butter. It will begin to simmer and turn brown around the edges. You will need to work quickly with the remaining steps.
  • 3. Add the brown sugar and stir gently until well combined. Add the rum and stir.
  • 4. Take a lighter and gently ignite the sauce. The flames could be potentially pretty high, so be careful. Once the flame has extinguished, add the nuts and remove from the grill. If adding the bananas, do this now and serve immediately.
