Orange Olive Oil Cake with Candied Walnuts

This is a super moist citrus cake that is dairy free!


  • 1 1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon zested orange peel
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 cup olive oil, plus more for greasing pan
  • candied nuts, see recipe, for garnish


  • 1. Preheat the Egg to 350°F using indirect heat. Lightly grease a grill safe pan with olive oil.
  • 2. In a medium bowl, whisk together walnuts, flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • 3. In a large bowl, beat eggs with an electric mixer until frothy, about 2 minutes.
  • 4. Add sugar to eggs and beat until creamy, about 3 minutes. Stir in walnut mixture.
  • 5. Add orange zest, orange juice, and olive oil and beat until combined.
  • 6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake until golden and a cake tester comes out clean, about 1 hour.
  • 7. Once cake is baked serve warm with candied nuts.
