Lomi Lomi Salmon

Nutritional Information

In Hawaiian Lomi Lomi means to massage.


  • 1 lb. salmon
  • 4 each ripe tomatoes, small dice
  • 3/4 each Maui onion, finely diced
  • 5 ounces scallions, whites and greens, coarsely chopped
  • 4 ounces soy sauce, or to taste


  • 1. Mix all ingredients together by hand ('lomi lomi' means "to massage" in Hawaiian). Let cool in refrigerator. In class we grilled the salmon on one side to medium rare.
  • 2. For the Salt Salmon: Sprinkle generously with salt all over. Then sprinkle generously with sugar. Let sit for 20 minutes. Rinse in cold ice water. Continue with cooking as desired.
