Hot Water Cornbread

Gluten free, made with cornmeal only.


  • 3 cups cornmeal
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespon sugar
  • 1 whole egg, beaten
  • boiling water
  • oil for frying


  • 1. Mix together the cornmeal, salt and sugar.
  • 2. Stir in the egg.
  • 3. Slowly add enough boiling water until you have a thick batter that you can form into patties.
  • 4. Form into patties and fry in hot oil in a heavy skillet (preheat EGG set up for direct heat, to 350 degrees fahrenheit) until golden brown on both sides.
