Prep Time:1 1/2 Hours
Cook Time:15 Minutes

Nutritional Information

This recipe is for a classic hamburger bun. They can be formed into smaller rolls to make slider rolls as well.

  • 1 1/4 cups milk (heated to 105º-110º)
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

  • 1. Mix the milk and the yeast until well blended and let sit for 5 minutes until a foam has appeared.
  • 2. Add the sugar, oil and the flour. Mix for 1 minute and add the salt. Continue to mix until a dough forms, adding flour or water as needed. Dough should be firm, but slightly sticky.
  • 3. Transfer to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and proof for 1 hour in a warm spot.
  • 4. Form the dough into 9 balls for large burger buns or 2 ounce balls for slider buns. Gently flatten the balls with the palm of your hand to ensure they are not too tall.
  • 5. Cover and proof for 20 minutes.
  • 6. Preheat the EGG to 400º using indirect heat. Grill the buns for 12-14 minutes depending on size of buns. Let cool before slicing.
