Ingredients
- 14 ounces caramels, unwrapped
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 package chocolate cake mix
- 3/4 cup butter
- 1/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts, if desired
Directions
- 1. Using a double boiler, melt caramels with 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Stir occasionally until melted. Combine dry cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, vanilla and 1 cup of nuts (if desired).
- 2. Mix well. Spread half the batter into a well greased 13x9 inch pan. Reserve remaining dough for topping. Bake in the EGG at 350 degrees using indirect heat for 8 minutes.
- 3. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust. Spread warm caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Put remainder of the batter that you put in the freezer on top of this. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup of nuts. Bake another 20 minutes.
- 4. Cool in pan. Refrigerate about 1 hour to set caramel. Cut into 1 inch squares. Hide them if you want any for yourself, they go fast!
