Big Green Egg Chili

Nutritional Information

This chili has bacon, ground beef and a touch of chocolate, giving it a deep delicious flavor.


  • 28 ounces fresh diced tomatoes
  • 28 ounces chili beans
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground chuck
  • 3 strips smoking goose bacon
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red onion, medium chop
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoons cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ounces Belgian chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • tabasco sauce, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 2 tablespoons Big Green Egg kodiak river rub
  • 6 ounces fruity red wine
  • apple and hickory wood chunks
  • 1 tablespoons chile powder


  • 1. Preheat your Egg to 400º using indirect heat, wood chunks and a cast iron dutch oven.  Cook the ground chuck and bacon until cooked throughout.  Add the onions and garlic and cook until fragrant.  
  • 2. Add the remaining ingredients and cook for about 3 hours, or until thickened.
