Vegan Gluten Free Falafel

This version of falafel is vegan and gluten free yet still tasty


  • 1 c soft herbs, (basil, cilantro, parsley)
  • 1 cooked chickpeas
  • 3 ea garlic cloves
  • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, or lime juice
  • .25 c rice flour
  • 2 Tbsp. tahini
  • .5 tsp. cumin
  • Salt & Pepper to taste, Oil for cooking


  • 1. Combine all of the down to the cumin in the food processor and pulse into a slightly chunky dough; season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 2. Heat a saute pan with a little oil over medium flame and test cook a small patty of the mixture to check the seasoning and make sure it holds together; add a little tahini and/or water if too dry/crumbly, or add a small amount of rice flour if too soft/wet.
  • 3. Portion into 2 ounce patties.
  • 4. For service, pan fry patties ahead of time just until there is a little golden brown on both sides, then either bake or grill to order
