Godeungeo Jorim (Korean Braised Fish)

If you want to make this dish a little less spicy omit the chili flakes.


  • 8 oz Grouper
  • 8 oz daikon radish, 1/2" slices
  • 1/4 ea onion
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tbs soy sauce
  • 1 tbs chile flakes
  • 2 tbs Gochujang
  • 2 tbs honey
  • 2 tbs mirin
  • 1 ea clove garlic
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper


  • 1. Make Braising Sauce: Thoroughly mix Soy Sauce, chili flakes, gochujang, honey, mirin, garlic, black pepper, and water. Marinate the fish with the sauce for 1 to 2 hours.
  • 2. Preheat the Egg with cast iron grate and Dutch oven to 400ºF. Grill the fish on one side along with the radish and onion. Slice the onion thinly and place into the Dutch oven along with the radish. Then place the fish on top and add the remaining marinade. Cover the Dutch oven and cook for another 10 minutes or until fish is cook through.
