Taco Pizza

A super delicious alternative to a traditional pizza.

Seasons:springsummerautumnwinter

Ingredients

  1. For The Dough:
  2. 14 tablespoons water
  3. 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  4. 1 teaspoon sugar
  5. 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  6. 2 1/4 cups of flour
  7. 3 teaspoons salt
  8. For The Topping:
  9. 2 tbsp taco seasoning, to taste (for the ground beef)
  10. 1 lb. seasoned lean ground beef, cooked
  11. 1 cup refried beans (add a little water or beer if too thick to spread)
  12. 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  13. 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  14. For The Garnish:
  15. Thinly sliced lettuce
  16. Fresh Cilantro
  17. Chopped tomatoes
  18. Taco sauce
  19. Mexican Crema
  20. Crushed Tostada shells

Method

  1. To make the dough: Combine the water and yeast. Let it sit until foamy. Add the sugar and oil. Mix in the flour, add the salt at the end. Proof for 1 hour or until doubled in size, pan up as desired. Proof again for 1 hour, roll out to desired thickness, top and cook.
  2. Preheat the Egg to 425 degrees with a plate setter.
  3. Using cornmeal to ensure the pizza dough doesn't stick, place rolled out dough on a pizza tray to prepare for topping.
  4. Season the dough with extra taco seasoning, spread refried beans on the dough. Add cooked taco meat then finish with mixed cheese. Place directly on a preheated egg with a plate setter. Cook for 12-15 mins or until the bottom of the dough is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
  5. Once the pizza is cooked, let it rest 5 minutes before serving and finish with desired garnishes.
